Homestay English language courses - Academic/exam students

Course details and options

• Courses usually start with arrival on a Sunday and departure on a Saturday.

• 15, 20, 25 or 30 hours of formal tuition per week.

• 60 hours of corrected conversation practice per week. This is the key to rapid success in the skills of listening and speaking. Even the grammar will become easier!

• Lessons take place during the morning and after lunch for courses that have over 20 hours per week. > Example of a typical day

• Excursions take place on selected afternoon/evenings, according to the timetable. Students can, if they wish, use their free time to take a bus or train and visit places of interest independently.

• A variety of materials are used to prepare the course depending on individual needs and abilities. (text books, cassettes, TV, Radio, magazines...)

• All course materials are provided.

• A personal audio cassette is made during lessons. This is a vital record of language learned in lessons and should be used for revision after the course.

• A Personal Study File is provided.

• Language Level and detailed needs assessment analysis prior to arrival.

• End of session report giving detailed needs analysis and recommendations for further study.

• Heritage English Certificate

Course content

Immersion courses for academic students are planned after students complete a needs analysis and assessment test prior to arrival.

Our courses are designed to help students to achieve their objectives by working on the following language skills:

• Oral communication, pronunciation and fluency in everyday English.

• Practice in all English tenses and key grammar areas

• Use of new grammar structures

• Use and extension of vocabulary

• Preparation and review of all test-taking skills specifically required for success in International English examinations. You will have the opportunity to take practice papers and tests from your intended exam under the careful supervision of your tutor.

A one-to-one immersion course of this kind has been proved to be the most effective way to make rapid progress in English. Not only that, but it is a cultural and life experience which will never be forgotten.
